Where are you located so can I visit the cats?
We do not have a central shelter facility. Instead, all of our cats are housed in private foster homes. If you would like to visit with one or more of our cats, the first step is to complete our Adoption Application. Once your application has been reviewed by one of our Adoption Coordinators for sufficiency and compatibility, an Adoption Coordinator will coordinate with the foster caregiver(s) for you to meet with a specific cat(s).
Will you adopt out cats outside of the San Francisco Bay Area?
We are able to coordinate immediate transport of cats to their forever homes within a 1-hour drive of San Jose. We adopt out cats within a 3-hour drive of San Jose provided adopters are able to partially help with transportation. We review out-of-region and out-of-state applications on a case-by-case basis and require adopters to arrange for transportation of the cat(s).
Why is your adoption application so long? How are you determining if I'm a good match or not?
The goal of our adoption process is to find the best fit for both the cat and the adopter. Therefore, we need to ask questions about your household’s lifestyle, previous cat experience, other current pets, and what you are looking for in a cat. We also ask questions specific to our organization’s adoption standards. Your thoughtful answers to each of the questions will assist our team in efficiently determining if a cat's temperament and personality is the right fit for your household.
Why haven't I heard back after submitting an adoption application or sending an email?
Sorry we haven't gotten back to you yet! We strive to always respond as quickly as possible, but we are an all-volunteer run organization, so please bear with us if we are not able to respond immediately. If you have submitted an Adoption Application and you have not heard back from us within 3-5 business days, please email our Adoption Team at adopt@acekittyrescue.org and we will do our best to assist you. We appreciate your continued interest and patience during this time.
Is there a phone number I can call to speak with someone?
Since we are all all-volunteer organization and do not have a central facility, the best way to contact us is always through email. If you are interested in adopting a cat, the best place to start is to complete our Adoption Application. You will be contacted by one of our Adoption Coordinators once they have a chance to review your application. To ask our adoption team a question, you can also email us directly at adopt@acekittyrescue.org.
Why do you charge an adoption fee?
We get it—sometimes you come across a “free” kitten on Craigslist or find one wandering the streets. But even a “free” cat isn’t truly free. The basics like vaccines, spay/neuter surgery, deworming, flea treatment, and microchipping can easily run $500 to $1,000 or more. At Ace Kitty Rescue Force, we make sure every cat gets the care they need before they’re ready for adoption. As a small nonprofit, we pay for those same medical costs. Fortunately, we’re able to stretch every dollar thanks to generous donors and low-cost vet partners.
This is why we ask for an adoption fee. It helps cover a portion of each cat’s care and allows us to keep saying “yes” to the next kitty in need. When you adopt from us, you’re not just bringing home a healthy, vetted cat—you’re also helping save the next one.
